Ross-on-Wye is a small market town situated in an area of natural outstanding
beauty, overlooking the River Wye. The town itself is steeped in history
and has many interesting features such as the 17th Century Market House,
The Prospect and the story of The Man of Ross.
The town has fantastic views over the river as it meanders throughout
the Wye Valley, allowing guests to take advantage of five local walks
and a Heritage Trail. For the long distance walker - Offas Dyke and the
Wye Valley Walker - offer challenging and picturesque hikes.
The surrounding area has many attractions for outdoor pursuits. A short
distance from the hotel is Symonds Yat, where you can indulge in canoeing,
climbing and cycling.
Golf can be offered to guests at a reduced rate on several local courses,
the area has many courses to choose from.
During the summer months, the hotel is a popular launching ground for
hot air balloons. Relax in the gardens and watch the balloons majestically
take off over the spectacular surrounding countryside.
Visit local cider houses and vine yards - sampling as you go. Historic
houses with gardens, art galleries and potteries, museums and cathedrals
are all within easy reach of the hotel.
During the last two weeks of August the town hosts an International Festival
attracting entertainers from the popular music scene, theatre groups,
comedians, wide screen cinema and dance troupes. An extremely popular
