Please see below for a few of the best local suppliers out there.

Humble By Nature

Humble By Nature is a working farm outside Monmouth, just over the border in Wales, which is run by well-known  presenter Kate Humble, her husband Ludo Graham and a collection of other experts. Visiting nature enthusiasts can book onto one of the farm’s fantastic Courses and Events… such as Food Foraging and Cookery, Book Binding, Hedge Laying, Sustainable Bee-Keeping or Small Holding for Beginners.

GB Sports – Coarse Fishing

Anyone hoping to try Coarse Fishing in the local area can find out where the best spots are and pick up equipment, bait and day permits (£6 each) at GB Sports in the Centre of Ross-on-Wye. The staff are friendly and helpful and you can even pick up a ‘Travel Kit’ with rod, reel and everything you need for a spot of holiday fishing, in a portable kit from around £20.

Chessgrove Farm Clay Pigeon Shooting

Chessgrove Farm offers a lovely rural setting in an orchard in the Forest of Dean and is accessed down a long windy track which takes you right into the heart of this idyllic spot. Groups will start the day with a safety and handling talk and then start off shooting easy clays, progressing to harder clays later on….all under the watchful eye on your own dedicated instructor. A fun and different activity!

International Centre for Birds of Prey

The International Centre for Birds of Prey is based in Newent, close to the Forest of Dean, and is a wonderful day out for nature enthusiasts…particularly in fine weather. There are regular flying demonstrations throughout the day, a huge selection of birds, photography and drawing workshops as well as experience days to book onto, as well as a cafe and a gift shop where you can pick up souvenirs.
